Whatever you do…do not look at the wall.

A legendary Nascar race car driver was asked if he could give one piece of advice to someone what would it be. His response “Don’t look at the wall.” If you do you will naturally move towards it, crash and burn. This makes complete sense coming from a race car driver. He respects the wall. However, to win the race it is all about his focus and perspective. His focus is on what is in front of him and the positive end result of winning. He is moving towards the finish line and victory. He is not thinking I need to move away from the wall because I could die even though that is a possibility. He has a healthy respect for the wall but it does not keep him from where he is going. He has a 100% better chance of winning the race if he focuses on where he wants to go compared to a 0% chance of winning the race if he focuses on moving away from the wall because of the fear of running into it. You and I are no different. The difference is where you put your focus in your life…are you winning?, living? or crashing and burning? Are you focusing on the relationship you want? or on the miserable relationship you have?  Remember, we have relationships with not just people but rather everything we interact with. Are you focusing on the possibilities or the limitations in your life? Are you looking out the front of the window to see where you are going or do you live with your perspective in the rear view mirror always running from the past.

The difference between living and Dying may be in where you are looking. Do you focus on and move towards what you want. While taking calculated risks and living life? Or do you focus on the past? and what you do not like  while staying very comfortable, stuck and surviving

I encourage you to get an index card or piece of paper and right down 4 things on it. 4 Goals that you want to accomplish this week to break out of your comfort zone to start living. Each day carry that index card with you and look at it multiple times a day. Move out of your comfort zone for example:  Take a new route home from work or school. Make a new meal. Volunteer, go to a support meeting, begin now. No, really go get a pen and paper and do it now.

The world is a better place with you in it living rather than surviving. Keep up the great work!
